Julia became a full Broker within a few years after getting her first real estate agent license and is associated full-time with Advisors Living. She serves waterfront communities from Kittery to Yarmouth and all southern Maine, advising buyers and sellers.
After growing up on the shores of Lake Michigan and getting a BA in performing arts and a partial MBA in Technology Management, she became a Business Assessment and Technology Analyst for IIT Research Institute, transferring solar, wind, geothermal and adiabatic engine technology from government and academic labs to the private sector with venture funding. A shift back to low oil prices cooled off those markets, so instead she shifted her focused on multimedia. She helped commercialize one of he first technologies delivery information on laser videodiscs in the early 1980s invented at IIT Research Institute. She build a market research firm tracking and forecasting worldwide sales of CD Audio, CD-ROM, DVD-Video, HDVD and related platforms for the information publishing, music, movie and games industries. Using census surveys of industry players worldwide, she created a large scale, long range model of spending on content, multimedia and platforms and published reports to corporations and investors along with consulting services. Her company InfoTech had offices in Vermont and Paris and she was a featured speaker at international multimedia conferences for over 20 years.
Today, she is a Realtor® helping buyers and sellers use market data, building science, and land use information to make informed choices. She is thrilled to be working with renewable energy once more, leveraging it and energy efficiency to help homeowners save money and the environment on a distributed level. She was active in her home town of Cape Elizabeth as Secretary of the Library Foundation Board and most recently was Chairperson of the town Energy Committee. She created and teaches continuing education classes to Realtors® on green and smart buildings tailored to the Maine market, has been a contributing writer for Green and Healthy Homes magazine, is a published non-fiction author, and serves on the advisory board for NorthEast Energy Efficiency Partnerships that is working to promote the use of building energy scores (like MPG for cars except for buildings) and other benchmarks for residential buildings. She sold one of the first NetZero homes in Maine and continues to help both sellers and buyers interested in green features enjoy energy savings.
